It has a prevalence of approximately 2 in 100 people and can be associated with other conditions. The condition is also known as stenosing tenosynovitis the ring finger and thumb are most often affected by trigger finger but it can occur in the other fingers as well.
As the tendon passes through a thickened sheath the tendon eventually becomes irritated and swells. Your doctor will do a physical exam of your hand and fingers and they ll ask about your symptoms.
